Community Pride and Festivals Under the Arches

When the volunteers began the arch project there were some who thought it was a waste of community resources to rebuild arches that were a reminder of the city’s past glory. The naysayers were wrong. The affection for the arches and the proud heritage they stood for was deep and strong in the community. Even those with doubts came to view the arches as part of Flint’s rebirth.

Today the arches are the center piece of downtown Flint and serve as a back drop to the many events held in downtown throughout the year including Back to the Bricks, the Crim Festival of Races, Bikes on the Bricks, Holiday Parade, New Years Eve Celebration, the Fire and Ice Celebration and more.
